Inspired to lend a hand

DFW Urethane is as committed to improving lives as we are to improving buildings. We give back to benefit adults and children here in North Texas, as well as to victims of disasters beyond our borders.

Over the years, DFW Urethane has supported a number of civic and charitable organizations whose efforts relieve suffering, restore hope and uplift our neighbors and communities. We invite you to learn about some of the ones we care about, and get involved if they inspire you as well.

Local Organizations We Support

Shared Housing Center, Inc.

We were contact by Southwest Airlines about a huge need: Shared Housing Center, Inc. had a roof that was falling apart. The facility is located in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas, a gorgeous area filled with local art, as you can see in these pictures.

They serve a huge need in the Dallas-Fort Worth community and do a whole heck of a lot of good with very little in the way of resources. The roof was leaking everywhere. They had buckets and tubs all throughout the building. When we saw the state of the roof, we knew we had to act.

We completely redid their roof at a price that we reduced down to meet the humble means of these critical social institutions that are often underfunded. We installed a brand new Spray Polyurethane Foam Roofing System using Carlisle-brand SPF covered with an Everest Systems acrylic coating. Shortly after the roofing system was completed, we had 2-3 days of rainy weather — Shared Housing Center, Inc. reported no leaks!

We are so excited by the important work they do and will continue to work with them to help them meet the needs of the community into the foreseeable future.

Dallas Scottish Rite Library & Museum

We recently completely redid the Dallas Scottish Rite Library & Museum's roof. This iconic building in downtown Dallas was built in the early 1900s and has been a staple of downtown Dallas for decades. We were honored to redo their roof back in the 1990s, and after a severe hail storm damaged the roof a few years ago, they came back to us for help.

Fortunately, the folks who run the library & museum understand the importance of building for the future. When they first purchased an SPF roofing system from us, it was because they understood the long-term benefits of insulation and protection that would come with an SPF roofing system.

The system stood up well to the hail storm, but now that it had been damaged, the folks at the Dallas Scottish Rite Library & Museum were presented with a unique opportunity to strengthen their existing roofing system profoundly and increase both the insulation that the roof provides as well as strengthen the roof against future hail storms.

We worked with their insurance company to create a repair plan that would both fix the hail damage and increase the r-value of the roof to R-25, greatly reducing the heating and cooling costs of this historic Dallas building.

We sprayed additional Spray Polyurethane Foam all across the entire roofing system, and because of the unique configuration of the roof, we custom installed Carlisle Isoboard in areas where SPF could not be installed directly on the metal of the roof and then covered this with 2-inch-thick SPF.

We then put a Neogard rubber coating on top of the SPF Roofing System to further increase hail resistance.

All of this was done during a busy season for the Library & Museum, but thanks to the unique properties of SPF Roofing Systems, the building was able to stay open and in operation while work was completed.

Watch these two videos to see exactly what the roofing system looks like today and how we made it all happen!

American Red Cross

DFW Urethane contributed to the disaster relief efforts of Hurricane Harvey by hosting a water drive for those affected and with the assistance of Southeastern Freight Lines were able to get clean water to those in need in Orange, Texas.

DFW Urethane also contributed to disaster response and recovery following the Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami, and the devastation of several U.S. communities by tornadoes in May 2011.

Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship

This therapeutic riding center serves thousands of children and adults with disabilities and learning differences via unique therapy tools – horses!

Equest started as a roofing customer (barns and office) and quickly became a favorite cause.

Ennis, Texas Food Pantries

The Ennis, Texas Food Bank performs profoundly important work for those in need in their city.

They had a roof that was not only severely leaky, but that also failed to properly insulate the building, leaving it far too hot in the summer and far too cold in the winter.

We installed a brand new Spray Polyurethane Foam Roofing System at a price that was within their means, a roofing system that has revolutionized their heating and cooling bills while simultaneously eliminating leaks.

We are passionate about the work they do and will continue to work with them in the future to help them meet the needs of their community.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

Inspired by the work they do for children all over the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we recently sponsored the Texas Scottish Rite Golf Tournament.

The golf tournament was designed to help the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children raise money for their motor pool. The vans the hospital uses are a critical component of helping get children to and from the care they need.

We were honored to sponsor the tournament and look forward to working with the hospital in the future to help them with their vital mission to serve the children of our community.

Shriners Hospitals for Children

Another group in Dallas-Fort Worth that does a lot of good for the children of our great community is the Hella Shriners, whose fundraisers support Shriners Hospitals for Children. We believe in their work and what they do, so we've been supporting them and their efforts since 1985.

One of the major ways in which the Hella Shriners raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children is through The Hella Shrine Classic, a car race that DFW Urethane has sponsored or been involved in for over 30 years at the invitation of Ricky Randall of the Hella Shriners.

Halo Society–Apple Tree Project

The Apple Tree Project is a school-supply drive for foster children. This year, the program provided 123 kids in Tarrant County with a backpack full of school supplies, two outfits, and a brand-new pair of shoes.

WFAA–Channel 8 Santa’s Helpers/Toys for Tots (Since 2010)

Oh what fun it is for our team to purchase toys, load up our trailer, and participate in this annual holiday drive for kids in need.

Together with WFAA Channel 8 and dozens of other organizations across DFW, we participate each year in the Santa's Helpers Toy Drive, collecting (and making!) donations of toys to over 50,000 needy children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

And we had a great time doing it this past year! These are just a few of the pictures that were taken in 2017 at this wonderful event — click here to see even more.
